The Diversity Visa Lottery, commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery or DV Lottery, was created by the US Department of State for people who come from countries with a low immigration rate to the United States.

A Green Card holder may later apply for United States citizenship, if desired. You are allowed to bring your spouse and all your unmarried children under the age of 21 to the United States.
