A note on the Diversity Visa Lottery application process: The United States Diversity Visa Lottery system, also commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery or DV Lottery, allows an immigrant to live and work permanently in the United States and also eventually apply for full citizenship. A Green Card is the same as a Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Card and involves two steps in the application process.

You must register for the Diversity Visa Lottery on a Green Card Lottery form.

If randomly selected by computer, you must then apply for the actual Green Card itself.
